I am excited because I decided it was time to start doing tutorials! Yay! Eventually I am going to get a YouTube channel going to embed videos to follow along with rather than just pictures, but for now, this may help you out some. Anyways, I figured it's better to start off with the basics and teach you my skincare routine, leading in to how to fake a flawless face. Honestly, I've been a little intimidated about starting this because I can be kind of O.C.D. and organized about stuff, so I felt like I couldn't jump into the more fun or avant garde-ish tutorials until I at least covered skincare, foundation/makeup base. I was just so busy with schoolwork that I didn't have time to photograph myself doing these ritualistic, mundane steps. However, I got kinda sick and wasn't good for doing much else, so I figured I might as well get it done! Just please excuse my puffy face and red eyes...I have a sinus cold :[.
At the moment, I have comination to oily skin. Living in South Florida, when the weather isn't totally humid and disgusting, I tend to have less breakouts for obvious reasons. Growing up in New Jersey, I never had much of an acne problem...just random bumps here and there. Not to get all girlie-gross on you, but since hormones have a lot to do with skin as well, I thought it would be important to share that I do not get my monthly cycle...I've been far from "regular" with it my entire life, and have gotten it maybe 15x ever. I haven't seen it since February 2006, lol. The point I am getting at is that it's probable that whatever breakout issues I have had are probably hormonally related to my irregularity. In any case, when the weather is more humid here (about 85% of the time), I tend to have oily, flawed skin. Luckily, I've gotten good with makeup and am able to hide it, altough it'd be nice to go naked confidently once in a while. Sure, laying in the sun will dry it out, but it'll give my pasty complexion nasty skin damage side-effects, too, so I try to avoid that and use SPF when I am in direct sunlight.
Some tips I've learned are:
-stick to the same routine faithfully; products take time to work effectively
-lots of home remedies can work wonders for your skin (more on that later...)
-don't pick your face; it spreads bacteria to clear areas
-always remove your makeup at the end of each day
-use oil-free and hypoallergenic products if you're acne-prone or sensitive
-take as many vitamins as you can...Vitamins C & E, biotin, and fish oil are excellent for glowing, healthy skin
-avoid alcohol and cigarettes; they prevent oxygen from reaching the skin

STEPS
Apply a thin amount of Tarte primer to entire face, concentrating on areas that are uneven (such as scars, bumps, dry patches, etc.)
Using stippling brush, buff in foundation all over skin and neck. About 2-3 pumps should do the trick...you want coverage to be even but thin, not caked on.
Using a concealer brush, cover up anything that your foundation didn't with your concealer. Use short up-and-down strokes, then buff in.
Apply any liquid highlighters now, before your powder, to your cheekbones and down the center of your nose.
Shake container three times into lid of powder. Set foundation with a loose powder, applied either with a powder brush, kabuki brush, or powder puff.
Using a kabuki or blush brush, apply blush or bronzer lightly to your cheeks.
Contour the hollows of your cheeks with an extra sweep or two, making cheekbones pop. If you have a round face like me, you can also contour the outer sides of your forehead and temples. Remember, dark will make surfaces recede while light will bring them forward. This creates the illusion of more sculpted features, even if you weren't born with any! :]
At this time, apply your eyelid primer, lip moisturizer (Carmex works well), and concealer to your lips if you want truer pigmentation once you put your lip products on. Have fun!
