Hello all! I know I'm a little late but I wanted to finally share with you the goodies I snagged from the MAC Venomous Villains collection that was released last week! I got to my local MAC store bright and early to have first dibs at playing with the new colors. I have read repeatedly that most of you don't particularly care for the character packaging. However, I find that it is helpful in identifying the shade, particularly for the lipsticks in their solid black bullets, among the rest of the MAC lippies in my collection. I wish there was some way to differentiate between them all without having to depot them or put a grungy label on the outside.
Here is what the packaging looks like, completely unopened:

MAC Venomous Villains Haul
And here are the products I picked up, opened up:
From left to right in the photos above, I picked up Bite of An Apple Blush (Evil Queen from Snow White), She Who Dares mineralized eyeshadow duo (Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty), Resort Life lipgelee (Dr. Facilier from Princess & the Frog), Violetta lipstick (amplified) (Maleficent), Heartless lipstick (amplified) (Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians), and Innocence, Beware! lipstick (cremesheen) (Cruella de Vil).
The She Who Dares e/s duo isn't all that impressive in the pan and without a base; as shown swatched in the top portion in the above picture, it comes out as a sheer, chalky grey with some chunky glitter. However, with a black base (here I just used the Maybelline Studio gel liner), the colors really come to life and look goooorgeoussss! I am very excited to use these, particularly the hunter green side--such a unique color!
Above I have swatched the Bite of An Apple blush. I got it because MAC doesn't really have anything like it in their permanent line. It isn't as red as Frankly Scarlet, and not quite as coral as Hipness blush...it's somewhere in the middle. It is first swatched very strongly to help give you a shade idea, then blended out more wearably.
Next up are swatches of all the lip products: Violetta, Heartless, Innocence, Beware!, and Resort Life
Another angle of the lip products, particularly to show you how Resort Life looks when not in direct sunlight. You can probably find better swatches of this from when it was released earlier this year with the Lillyland collection.
Disappointed with my current blush collection, I also was looking for a deeper, plum-toned blush to wear with my purple and autumnal eye looks. None of the regular blushes in the permanent line struck my fancy, but Love Thing mineralized blush certainly hit the spot--for now.
Here is a swatch of Love Thing on strongly, then blended out. The picture doesn't really capture it as accurately as it comes across in person; the strong swatch is more true than the blended out version.
Nothing here was a real standout, but I had my reasons for buying them. Also, I know if I decide to trade them down the line, some die-hard Disney collectors as well as MAC collectors will be glad I did!
Did you buy any Venomous Villains goodies?
